Puppy Socialization

Puppy socialization, or as we like to call it “Puppy Play Dates”, allows puppies to develop social skills during a crucial period in their upbringing which will help prepare them for any future interactions. Puppies must have a visit with our doctors, at least one canine distemper vaccine given by a DVM and a negative fecal test to join us for play dates. Our puppy socialization classes are scheduled for Tuesday’s and Thursday’s each week, it consists of 10 puppies per day and is staff supervised. Socializing the puppies in a small class allows for personalized attention for each puppy, to ensure they each get the most of their socialization and develop good behaviors for the future. Strength’s and weaknesses are documented during each class and guidance is given where needed. The puppies are handled by our staff for desensitization training to help prepare them for future interactions with humans. (Ex. relaxing for exam, nail trims, and ear cleanings)

Puppies may attend our classes if they pass their puppy exam and are showing no signs of illness. Puppies can participate in play dates at least twice per week for the first 4 weeks, then once weekly for 4 weeks. After 4-8 weeks and marked improvement in social skills, puppies will graduate and be encouraged to continue socialization opportunities. Each puppy will receive a report once a week to update owners on how their puppy is progressing and what skills we encourage them to work on at home. Upon graduating from our puppy play date program, a certificate and goody bag will be provided to you and your puppy to reward them for their hard work and the progress they have made. We encourage you to continue working with your pet even after graduating to maintain healthy habits.
