Specialty Services Offered

A veterinary specialist is a doctor who has undergone an additional 3-5 years of schooling beyond the standard DVM degree.  Your pet would need to see a specialist for certain medical conditions requiring more specialized training in diagnosing and developing a treatment plan. Just like people, pets develop many conditions in which the skilled expertise of a specialist can be invaluable. This is important for many procedures, such as ultrasound, endoscopy, various biopsy procedures, cardiovascular conditions, skin conditions as well as for uncommon or especially serious conditions that may be affecting your pet.

We at Salty Paws are excited to offer ultrasound and echo-cardiogram services at our hospital as a diagnostic tool in maintaining your pet’s health and addressing health cconditions. Dr. Keith Kremer is an internal medicine specialist that performs ultrasonography procedures in our clinic Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Dr. Herbert Maisenbacher is a cardioly specialist that performs echocardiography and mobile cardiac consultations in our hospital on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Dr. Keith Kremer is the sole owner and practicing veterinarian in his specialty practice, Veterinary Specialist Care. He was among the first veterinary specialists in the Hampton Roads area, practicing in Chesapeake from 1997 – 2000, at which time he moved west for two years to pursue self-employment.  He returned to the area in 2002 and started his practice Tidewater Veterinary Internal Medicine which was later renamed Veterinary Specialist Care.
